Amy Jo Roberts

Amy Jo, also known as “A J”, is orig­i­nally from Estelline, South Dakota. She began study­ing the piano at age five. She later added the tenor sax­o­phone and con­tin­ued study­ing both instru­ments through­out high school and col­lege. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in music from South Dakota State Uni­ver­sity. In addi­tion to var­i­ous col­le­giate groups, she per­formed with sev­eral area big bands and spent two sum­mers play­ing sax­o­phone and key­boards at Val­ley­fair near Min­neapo­lis, Minnesota.

After grad­u­a­tion, A J came to Florida to per­form with Disney’s All-American Col­lege Band. Then came an oppor­tu­nity to play tenor sax­o­phone with “Frankie and the West End Boys,” a seven-piece rock / vari­ety band. She spent six years with the group, per­form­ing through­out Walt Dis­ney World includ­ing Plea­sure Island, each of the theme parks, var­i­ous resorts, and on Dis­ney Cruise Lines. The band also toured Eng­land and Wales.

A J free­lances at var­i­ous wed­dings, con­ven­tions and pri­vate par­ties in Cen­tral Florida. She has also per­formed at sev­eral area jazz soci­eties. In addi­tion, she teaches pri­vate piano lessons and also plays key­boards and piano for Crown of Glory Lutheran Church located in Orlando.
